At high noon the NMMC held an All Volunteer meeting. Over 20 folks came to learn about current animal care protocols, legal volunteer requirements, and NNM C policies. Dr Dennis Woods, DVM, founder of the Center spoke about NMMC history and management and our current patient, Elephant Seal Coolio. Paul, the Ofice Manager, presented information on forms management for NOAA. Our Volunteer Coordinator Mister Blue kept everyone on track and reasserted that the Animal Care and Volunteer Handbook policies are to be followed. Janet Dickey, Hospital Coordinator, briefed everyone on health issues as well as bird care. Linda Stockton, the Stranding Coordinator, spoke about the Stranding Network, when and why to call and how to report stranded animals. At a break halfway through the meeting a fantastic potluck was held featuring among other things Ramone’s cookies courtesy of Cindi Lee and the Wags and Menace Foundation. We were all excited to be gathered together in anticipation of the coming season. To become a member or volunteer please fill out our online application!
